Gary visits from Cape Town

My brother, Gary, spent some time with us earlier this week as he was up here in Jo'burg on business. It was lovely to see him again and Josh really enjoyed spending some time with his uncle.

It's been absolutely scorching here this week as Gauteng is in the midst of a heatwave which looks set to last for a few more days yet. Josh and I have been cooling off in the pool as much as possible. We spent some time at Lifestyle over the week-end with our friend Cindy ("Marge") and Josh enjoyed that immensely - except for the part where he stuck his finger into the pig's cage and got zapped by it's muddy nose!

Nath has been in Maputo since Monday on business - we are looking forward to his return tonight!

What a difference a year makes!

It is always amazing to see how quickly children grow and change. These two photos were taken almost a year apart exactly - same bouncy chair, and amazingly, same little boy! He is just filling the chair a lot more now!

Arsenal continue to climb up the ranks (I think they played a game on Monday night, but haven't a clue what happened...???) Well done to the Blou Bulle on sharing the Currie Cup with defending champs the CHEEEEEETAHS (enjoying Ollie's long hairdo...) And lastly, good luck to the Bokke as they go on tour shortly. Personally I am relieved that N and I won't be at Twickenham this year in the event of another leopard-crawl-out-of-here-twenty-minutes-before-the-game-ends-and-dread- the-abuse-at-work-from-English-colleagues-on-Monday scenario.

That's it from me and my sporting contributions!

Halfway...

Kimbo reaches the halfway point with our 2nd member of the Carr front row this week and all is going well, as you can see in the picture. Watch out Des, you will have to scrum all of us soon...

We had a relaxing week end. The weather has been great - still waiting for our first real thunderstorm of the summer. We won our first polo game of the season on Saturday so celebrated with a few beers watching the Currie Cup Final. What a game...

Sports round up: Jake White continues to fall in my estimations with his confusing selections. He says he has picked a squad with the world cup in mind - and then includes the 36 year old Johann Ackermann. How or why he has left Kababma Floors out is also beyond me.... Arsenal are now 4th in the Premiership after a 3-0 win over Watford with a game in hand. Keep on climbing Goooners.

Kimbo has been taking Josh to swimming lessons twice a week which he loves. The instructor has labelled him "the wild one" because of his frantic splashing displays... One to watch for the future.

Managed to finalise our Christmas holiday dates - 18 December to 8 January - with some time in the Eastern Cape and a short stop over in Cape Town. 9 weeks to go and counting...!

Have a good week.
