A book worth reading...

I am one of those that has 3/4 books going at once but I am busy reading "Freedom Flight" and it is brilliant. Without giving too much away, it is a true story about two South African guys (from Port Elizabeth and Cape Town) that sold and packed up everything to fly their micro lights around the world, starting and ending in Cape Town. "The longest journey in the smallest air craft". The stories and pictures of their travels around the globe are extraordinary, particularly up East and Central Africa. Tragically, one of them - Alan Honeyborne - died during the trip. All the royalties go to the Cape Town Childresn Trust. R169.00 at CNA and Exclusive books. Go and get it...!

Here are a few more photos of our two little guys, taken in the last couple of days.

Little brother comes home...

Thanks so much for all the phonecalls, emails and texts following Daniel's safe arrival on Thursday (as well as for the comments on the blog!) It's great to know we have so much love and support at this time (so come on over and help with the babysitting anytime!)

Daniel and I were discharged from the hospital yesterday morning and have had our first full day and night at home. It is clearly going to be a very busy time for the Carr family and I suspect sleep is now a thing of the past (as if it hasn't been for the past 19 months already!) Josh was delighted with the gifts that Daniel brought for him, and they managed to hold his attention for most of yesterday. Daddy enjoyed some bonding time with Daniel on the couch - I think he was trying to get little Dan to watch a Super 14 game but he clearly had other ideas! Josh keeps proudly telling us that he is now "Big Bruva" when you ask him what his name is (before he used to be "Dosh"!)

Daniel arrives...

What a day!

We checked into Park Lane Clinic at 8 am this morning. The inducer drip was rigged up, and then we waited and waited... It took many hours before anything really started to happen - at about mid afternoon. Kim was a SUPERSTAR, again, taking it all in her stride.

Daniel arrived at 16h19 without much fuss or hassle despite being 10 days early. Lots of brown hair and a loud scream which is always a good sign (I am told). Here are a few pictures. He weighs in at 3.7 kg's and 56 cm's long. All healthy and Kimbo is doing fine.

Without taking anything away from the NHS which provided a smooth delivery of Josh for free (less our taxes) we can honestly say that the medical equiptment and service we received in South Africa was first rate and first world. Quite a contrast to the "suck some gas and push approach". Kim will explain the details, I was a mere observer!

I cant wait to get back to Park Lane tomorrow to introduce Joshua to young Daniel.

Take care and thanks for all the well wishes.

A Stork Party for Baby Carr

Thank you so much to Jon and Sally for organising and hosting a surprise Stork Party for me yesterday. I was totally oblivious to the fact that it was being organised under my nose, and arrived at their home yesterday expecting an afternoon of braai meat and beers (except for me of course!)
It was a lovely afternoon and we were totally spoilt for the new little guy. Thanks so much to my Joburg friends for joining us and spoiling us so much.

Our little African...

Josh has developed a bit of a hat fetish lately and insists on wearing some form of headgear all the time. On the days that Elsie works for us he has taken to wearing a "doek" just like hers, so this is what I found when I walked into the kitchen a short while ago after leaving Josh "helping" Elsie with some chores!

Otherwise there is not a lot of news from the Carr house unfortunately. I am now 37 weeks pregnant, so the countdown to the new arrival has most definitely begun! I have another check-up with my gynae later today and am sure he will tell me that this baby has grown even more in the past few weeks, as I feel huge! He is obviously going to be bigger than his brother was at birth (3.2kg) which is something for me to look forward to :)

Thanks to all of you who entered our "predict the name" competition. We have taken your suggestions into serious consideration, although one or two suggestions have unfortunately already reached the recycling bin! An announcement will definitely be made on this blog as soon as there is any news, so keep visiting!

Have a great week-end - playing in the snow in the UK, or sweating it out in SA...
